GORDON PARKS
Gordon Parks is one of my personal heroes. Not only did he work for the (F.S.A.) Farm Security Administration, but he was an integral documentarian during the civil rights era. He also made his mark as a composer, author, and a filmmaker. He became the first African-American to write and direct a Hollywood feature film based on his bestselling novel The Learning Tree. The Gordon Parks Foundation is a great place to start learning about one of my favorite personal influences photographically and philosophically.
