UPDATE

Is anyone there? Hello? Yeah, I didn't think so....oh wait...did I hear someone sneeze?

Hi there! I have been pretty bad about posting and have been admittedly absent and caught up in my own web of life. You would think as you get older, you'd have more things figured out, be happier, have things under control, and on some kind of trajectory or path...but man it just isn't the case - with me at least. This has certainly been the weirdest and toughest year in a long time for so many reasons - which I won't talk about here.

At any rate, the one thing that I always seem to come back to time and time again is my love for music. It's the only thing that exists in this world that can immediately take me out of any mood or mind set that I'm in and transport me so gracefully to the next, whatever that mood may be. It can pick you up if you're down, it can get you serious and contemplative in a flash, hell it can even convince you that everything is going to be just fine even when you're not so sure it will be.

I'm in the middle of watching a great Les Paul documentary called "Chasing Sound" while I type this out...He was such an innovator and thankfully one of the most curious and determined individuals to ever live. I'm grateful for Django Reinhardt, Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Daune Eddy, The Ventures, Dick Dale, and any other true innovator in music. Music always reminds me to follow my dreams, my heart, and especially my gut. To be a musician is to put all of your vulnerabilities out there for the public to see and judge. That's when you really start to grow a thick skin but also blossom into something completely beautiful and unexpected.

So this year especially, I've been trying to commit all of my extra time - which there is never enough of - to shooting with more film. I'm rebuilding my portfolio and using what I've learned in the many facets of the industry to create work that speaks to my heart. In writing this to put out into the world, I'm coming back full circle to Les Paul and hoping that I can remember to work very hard to innovate, be curious, and stay determined.

If you're still checking in periodically on this site, I can't thank you enough. I've started a Facebook photography page which you can follow here: Jamie Goodsell Photography, and I also have a new Instagram account for all of my new work which I would love if you could follow it here: @jamiegoodsellportraits - tell all of your friends to give me a follow too. Thanks for being patient with me and I really can't wait to share as much work as possible with the world this year. Now I'm going to listen to "How High The Moon" at least five times.

Love,

Jamie
